Battle of the Buffalo
Wing Festival – Round 16
Saturday, April 12 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Big Spring Park

What is Battle of the Buffalo Wing Festival?

Battle of the Buffalo is an annual philanthropic chicken wing festival held at Big Spring Park in Downtown Huntsville, Alabama. On April 12, 2024, for the fifteenth round, local restaurants and amateur cooks will compete with their tastiest wings in an effort to be crowned best of the Tennessee Valley. Last round, with the help of our generous restaurants and sponsors, Battle of the Buffalo brought together more than 8,000 community members, served over 11,000 pounds of chicken wings, and presented the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation with $78,000 and The HudsonAlpha Foundation with $34,000. This year, in its tenth year as a Downtown Huntsville Inc. Featured Event, Battle of the Buffalo Wing Festival will boast wing entries from local restaurants, various vendors from the community, a celebrity judging panel that includes key individuals across the Huntsville/Madison areas, an entire afternoon of live music, and a kid-friendly fun zone. The men of Alpha Tau Omega, along with the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, invite you to join us in continuing a tradition of love, health, and charity.

Our Beginning

Since 2009, our event has been held every year in memory of Paul “Fish” Salmon. Paul was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2006 and underwent treatment at the Clearview Cancer Institute (CCI). He was a brother of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and a senior at The University of Alabama in Huntsville when he passed away in 2007. In 2009, the men of Alpha Tau Omega hosted their first festival centered on Buffalo wings, Paul’s favorite snack. Thus far, the event has raised over $400,000 for the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation and the HudsonAlpha Foundation and continues to support local cancer patients undergoing treatment at CCI and cancer research at HudsonAlpha.
